Powers/Abilities
May. 27th, 2023 02:24 pmBig Picture: Angel is an entity in two parts. He is a corpse left behind by the death of Gabriel Mora, who was shoved in a ditch and abandoned. It is a Presence that is piloting that corpse and empowering it. This means certain things are possible...
Speaker for the Dead: When around other corpses, Angel can touch them or look into their blank unseeing eyes and instantly understand the cause of their death--and who, if anyone, is guilty of it.
Corpse Physiology: Angel doesn't need to eat, drink, breathe or sleep. He can choose to do any of these things, though his dreams trend toward horrible nightmares. Still, it is impossible to kill him via deprivation.
Supernatural Vitality: Angel can briefly become strong enough to perform great acts of strength, like punching through a brick wall or wrestling a bear. This only lasts for about two minutes, after which he'll be too tired to do much more than walking at a sedate pace for another five minutes.
Flare: The entity within Angel is one that seems to have ties to fiery energy. To cut through darkness, it can burn bright, light searing out through Angel's eyes and mouth. While he can still see and talk while this is happening, it does cause a splitting headache that lingers when the light is gone. The light that pours from Angel while this power is active is holy, anathema to demons and undead who may be affected by divine power.
Kin to Flame: While Angel can't exactly summon fireballs, he can direct an existing flame--to grow or quell, to leap to another source of fuel, or to burn in a different color. He can pull the flame to his own hand, where it will linger without burning his flesh until he's ready to use it. Angel almost always carries a lighter for this purpose.
Sanctuary Healing: Angel's body does not heal itself normally, unless he is at a location that is somehow sacred: a church, a graveyard or tomb, a shrine. When he's at such a place, his wounds glow with golden light as they close, as if there's something holy within him that is at risk of leaking out until he is mended.
Note: This character was inspired by Promethean: the Created 2e, but this character is not beholden to certain rules of the Promethean system, primarily because playing Disquiet and Wasteland mechanics straight in DWRP just doesn't sound like fun.
